This study aims to investigate the idea of right recognition in Axel Honneth’s theory, which will be subject to an analysis of The Struggle for Recognition: The Moral Grammar of Social Conflicts. Honneth, anchored in the theories of Hegel and Mead, establishes the role of the right as a sphere of individual recognition and its potential for securing of self-respect. We undertake a reconstruction of Honnethian theory with regard to the roles played by the right in the theory of The Struggle for Recognition. Then, from the author's reading of Thomas Marshall's theory, we analyze the role played by fundamental subjective rights a as medium of sedimentation and expansion of new forms of recognition and citizenship.
