Abstract

This text presents the translation of the article “Sensualism and Ethicity in Ludwig Feuerbach”, by Draiton Gonzaga de Souza, originally written in German. The study explores the ethical and anthropological foundations of Feuerbach’s philosophy, with a particular focus on his later writings, where he develops a sensualist-based morality that offers a critical stance on religion and metaphysics. By making this translation available, the aim is to provide Portuguese-speaking scholars access to an important reflection on egoism, ethics, and recognition within Feuerbach’s moral philosophy.

Author Biographies

  • Draiton Gonzada de Souza, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul

    Draiton Gonzaga de Souza é Bacharel em Filosofia (PUCRS), em Direito (PUCRS), em Psicologia (PUCRS) e em Teologia (PUCRS, com dupla titulação pela Pontifícia Universidade Lateranense, Roma). É Mestre em Filosofia (PUCRS) e em Direito (UFRGS). É Doutor em Filosofia (Universidade de Kassel, Alemanha) e em Direito (UFRGS). É Licenciado em Filosofia (FAFIMC) e tem habilitação para a docência da língua alemã (UFRGS). Realizou pós-doutorado na Universidade de Tübingen (Prof. Dr. Otfried Höffe), no Hegel-Archiv, da Universidade de Bochum (Prof. Dr. Walter Jaeschke) e na Universidade de Bonn (Prof. Dr. Chirstoph Horn), como bolsista da Fundação Alexander von Humboldt. Recebeu, em 2002, prêmio do DAAD, e, em 2013, da Fundação Alexander von Humboldt (Humboldt-Alumuni-Preis) devido ao engajamento na cooperação acadêmica Brasil-Alemanha. É Professor Titular da Escola de Humanidades da PUCRS, atuando, na graduação e na pós-graduação, como Professor Permanente no PPG em Filosofia e no PPG em Direito. Foi Decano da Escola de Humanidades durante nove anos e atualmente é Pró-Reitor de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação da PUCRS. É Psicólogo (CRP/RS 07/40019), Advogado (OAB 89.511), Tradutor Público e Intérprete Comercial concursado para o idioma alemão e Vice-Direitor do CDEA (Centro de Estudos Europeus e Alemães - UFRGS-PUCRS-DAAD-CAPES). Foi agraciado pelo Governo Federal da Alemanha com a "Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande" (Cruz da Ordem do Mérito da República Federal da Alemanha), em 2021. 

  • Kelvin Amorim de Melo, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul

    Mestre em Ética e Filosofia Política pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS/CNPq), com dissertação intitulada "Religião e sentimento de desamparo - perspectivas políticas no pensamento de Ludwig Feuerbach", explorando as intersecções entre filosofia, religião e política. Participante ativo de grupos de pesquisa, como o Grupo de Estudos Ludwig Feuerbach (GELF - UFC), o Grupo de Estudos Marxistas (GEM - UFC) e o Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas de Educação em Hannah Arendt e Giorgio Agamben (GEPEDE).Autor do livro Quando-vir-a-ser (2019), desenvolve estudos voltados à ética, filosofia política, filosofia da religião e felicidade humana em contextos individuais e comunitários. Possui foco em direitos humanos, responsabilidade social e questões ético-políticas.Sua trajetória acadêmica e profissional reflete uma dedicação à integração entre teoria e prática, aliando sua formação filosófica a um compromisso com a defesa de direitos e cidadania global.
