Gadamer and Honneth
Philosophical hermeneutics and its implications in the struggle for intersubjective recognition

This article aims to make an in-depth study of the development of Gadamer's hermeneutic implications in Honneth's theory of the struggle for subjective recognition, more precisely through the works Truth and Method and Fight for recognition: the moral grammar of social conflicts, respectively. Gadamer and Honneth. Both thinkers criticize the abstract philosophy and its way of conducting explanations about the phenomena of social reality and its problems in the historical context. Some pertinent concepts are noted that are present in the philosophical development of his theories, making reference to a change of focus in the explanations of the modern social reality. It is understood, then, that the hermeneutics develops a fundamental role of aid to the understanding and historical-social interpretation of the fights of the subjects by intersubjective recognition as guarantee of full realization in respect to the spheres of love, law and solidarity.
